August 15, 2006 -- In mid 2005, NCIC Operator Services implemented its VOIP platform to support CLECs and carriers ability to eliminate trunking costs for operator services and directory assistance. As of July 2006, NCIC has hit its first 1 million minute month for these services. NCIC supports g.729a, g.711 and H.323 VOIP protocols and currently has over 20 customers accessing its operator service center via VOIP / SIP.

This major milestone has allowed NCIC to eliminate LEC trunking costs for both itself and its customers.
